Not even kidding I was having a shitty day and this is so welcome! That's how much I enjoy these reactions. The first part of the episode is so hilarious ..'See Stefan, even the bear knew..." lmo I was never ready for that one, Stefan kicking the bear, just PURE comedy gold hahahah

I have to start from the scene when we see the brothers just having the funniest conversation. It is without a doubt one of the funniest scenes that has ever been on this series. I laugh every time I watch it and seeing you laughing in the same manner Sofie was just adding to the fun. It's ridiculously clever and adorable. And it spoke volumes about how far Damon, Alaric and Stefan have come. Watching Damon being so openly playful, poking fun at Stefan while subtly extending his support to his brother and Caroline should they choose to indulge a romance was really cute. Always wanted to see them being open about their love life and being normal about it. He truly is rare form this season. I have never been in more love with him. Nor have I been more proud. Because just last episode he let Elena go. Again and instead of spiraling, lashing out or turning in on himself, he is putting his energies towards helping Bonnie and being genuinely silly with his little brother and his best friend. It warms my heart to see them all just being so fun together. And Damon not letting his insecurities run the show any longer. He no longer views himself as the villain, the bad brother, the irredeemable monster who never deserved Elena to begin with. He knows better now. He knows that he is more than good enough for Elena. He knows that what they have is exactly what they both need. But what he also knows is that she can't just let him back overnight when she doesn't remember being with him. She needs time. So he is giving it to her. He is waiting for her no matter how long it takes. Sometimes I forget that I am not here only for Delena's legendary love story. I love everything about this show. The friendships, the plot twists, the character development, the mythology even the scenery. I really don't have criticisms about TVD. And this episode reminds of all of this. Because there's more than just some truly glorious interactions Delena, Steroline and Defan & Alaric. There's some wildly ingenious mythology. Everything surrounding the Gemini Coven is brilliant and fascinating and compelling in a way the travelers never were. Kai is easily the best villain that’s been on this show since Klaus. He is pure evil and actually has so far not shown any redeeming qualities. Plus the fact that he stabbed Bonnie again I hated him. I know he has had a horrible childhood and that has lead to some serious damage. But it does not justify his act with Bonnie and his siblings. I guess he wants to be the leader because it gives him the powers he wasn't born with and because he gets to be in the position that he wasn't considered worthy for. Moreover in between all this mess he is creating, he is also unknowingly paving the way for Damon and Elena to find their way back to each other despite Elena's memory loss. The scene at the thanksgiving dinner is such a perfect illustration of how foolhardy the idea of Elena dating someone human is. Here they are at this makeshift Thanksgiving dinner comprised entirely of people with supernatural backgrounds, and they naturally fall into a discussion about covens and prison worlds and whatever crazy magic crisis of the week happens to be. And they forgot that Liam is there. That he doesn't know about them or their world, which is the ultimate example of how unrealistic Elena’s plans for a normal life are, and always have been. It's exactly why being with someone who isn't Damon just isn't in the cards for her. Being with Liam was nothing but an exercise in futility. It was never going to work. And not just because Elena belongs with Damon. But because Elena isn’t human. Her friends are not human. Her problems are not human. Try as she might to strive for some normalcy in her life, the fact of the matter is that she isn’t normal. She never was. She was born supernatural. So was her best friend. So was her little brother. They may have grown up normal, unaware of the magic that exists in the world around them and the destinies they carry, but that doesn’t make them human. They're supernatural. They're doppelgangers and witches and hunters and wolves and vampires. And trying to pretend otherwise is just pointless. They will never be completely normal. Their lives will never not carry some element of the supernatural. They’ve all died, they’ve all killed, they’ve all made enemies and they are all from a town that is renowned for its magical history. Being normal isn't an option for these people. Especially not Elena. It is why all these times that Caroline or Stefan or Elena or whoever has tried to maintain some air of normalcy in their lives or the lives of someone they love, it has failed spectacularly. The only normal they will ever find is with each other. Together, as a group, they can be themselves and still live with some stability and humanity. But injecting outsiders into the mix - people who really are human and have no ties to their supernatural world is just ridiculous and unnecessary. It won’t lead to anything but lies and confusion and heartache. And Elena hates the very idea of living a lie. It’s something that was established about her right from the start. She doesn’t like there to be secrets between her and the people she loves. She wants honesty and communication and cooperation. She wants everyone to be on the same page. And with a human around that will never happen. That is not to say that she can't have facets of normalcy in her life. She can. But it will never be all normal. And it will not include a romance with someone who cannot sympathize with how difficult her life is. This is where the idea of Liam being a 'hero' falls flat. This is why she really wants Damon and why she realizes her mistake so quickly. Because in her life that is so overrun with pain and fear and magic and insanity, he is her dose of normal. It doesn't matter that she doesn't remember. It doesn't matter how hard she tries to deny it. Deep down she feels it. It is like a slice of season 3. She hasn't been in this much denial in a long time. But she has also matured so significantly in the last two seasons that she sheds said denial very quickly. Still, she allows herself one small opportunity to try and pretend Damon's resurrection hasn't changed everything for her. And it blows up in her face. I am more than happy and relieved about the turn of events. Because Liam's presence was just so much more annoying than I ever expected it to be. But he served his purpose either way. He was Elena's last chance to try and throw herself into a normal life void of all supernatural danger. A life that she wasn't meant for. As painful and tragic as the last few years have been for her, she’s found more purpose and happiness and love through all her endless horrors than she ever would have if she’d never met Damon and Stefan. They changed the game for her. Especially Damon. I mean the fact that they met not once, not twice, but THREE times should be more than enough evidence for you of how crucial that relationship would be and has been for her by itself. Elena has really grown up as an adult and her character development was top-notch. She has finally learned not to continue to beat the dead horse. She knows somethings just aren't meant to be. She gave it one last chance with Liam. She tried to do what Damon told her to do and live her life. Be happy. Without him. And it wasn't right for her. It wasn't what she wanted. She’s spent so much of her life believing her future was meant to meet very specific expectations. But never her own. She never oriented her life around things she wanted for fear of what others might think or how it might negatively affect them. The only time she ever successfully squashed her predilection for obligation is when she gave into her feelings for Damon. And while she may not remember it, she still wants it. She still wants Damon and all the opportunities that come from being with him. Perhaps one of the largest misconceptions about vampirism is that it strips you of all opportunity. That it closes doors that can’t ever be opened again. It’s true, becoming a vampire cut off certain avenues for Elena. She can never have children. She can only go so far in a career or live so long in a town because she doesn’t age. She has to live with some secrecy, protect the people she meets from the truth of what she really is. But in contrast she was given so much more freedom after her transition than she’d ever had as a human. So she can’t have a family and she has to be wary around humans and she’ll never live in the suburbs and be a housewife. So what. She never wanted to do that anyway. If there’s anything we’ve learned about Elena over the seasons it’s that she wants options. She doesn’t want her life to be chosen and planned out for her, she doesn’t want to live as everyone else expects her too, she doesn’t want to love who other people think she should love. She wants to march to her own drum. So does Damon. She wants someone who will stick with her always, whether she is in college or pursuing medicine or decides to just travel the world. And that’s the real reason she changed her mind about Liam so quickly. Why this one incident with Jo showed her he wasn’t the right guy. Her reasoning was twofold. It was selfless and selfish. Taking a note out of Damon's book. Surprise, surprise. She was being selfless because she realized it wasn’t fair of her to drag Liam into her dangerous and complicated world just because she happened to like him. He wasn’t a part of her crazy. He’d never fully understand it. And he’d be safer away from it. So she set him free. Like both Damon and Stefan have tried to do with her in the past. She was also being selfish because she finally understood that she was lying to herself. Not just about Liam but about Damon. She’d tried to convince herself and everyone else that Damon coming back didn’t change anything. But it changed everything. And the fact that she feels that change so powerfully and does something about it so swiftly is confirmation that this memory loss is what we always knew it to be. What every massive obstacle is for Delena. Just another bump in the road. And speaking about the last scene between Damon and Elena in this episode. God bless Joshua Butler for this scene honestly. He picked the song (and what an appropriate one it is considering what transpires between Damon and Elena). He threw in that glorious unscripted hand grab. It amazes me every time how they manage to flawlessly segue between an old married couple and a pair of angst ridden star crossed lovers. I mean she just marched into the bar out of nowhere and told him point blank that he should have included her in his 'Save Bonnie' mission. Even though she has no idea why he’s trying to save Bonnie. Even though she doesn’t remember that he’s the mastermind of all their plans and rescue attempts from the last three years. Even though she is supposed to think of him as a monster and not a hero. Yet she still has the expectations that if he embarks on some heroic journey he is supposed to include her. For a minute I wondered if she was actually compelled at all. Because she behaved around him in much the same way she always has. Like a disapproving wife that’s annoyed her husband didn’t factor her into his wild schemes. Like she can’t believe he’d have the audacity to try and get Bonnie back without taking her along. I really love that the writers gave us this scene for another reason too which is that we see Delena talking about Bamon time in the prison world. I feel really bad for Damon in this scene because he must be feeling so many mixed emotions. He hasn't been able to bring Bonnie back yet and here is also dealing with his girlfriend not remembering him as someone she once loved more than anyone else. Bamon bonding also makes a hell lot of sense because we find out that they bonded because of their common love for Elena. They spent hours talking about how they both love Elena and how they would anything for her. From the beginning I believe Damon has known this about Bonnie and has respected it. But this time it was about him. She sent him back because she saw how much Damon loved her and how much Elena would need him. She was right too. If Elena didn't compel her memories, getting back Damon would have mattered more. And in it's own way it still does. Because Damon is the one who gets shit done. Damon is the one who is so ridiculously committed to his loved ones that he’ll take any risk for them. Damon is one the only one who could fix what was so broken with everyone after he and Bonnie died. And on some level, Bonnie understands that too. She sent him back because she could trust her decision and him. And I am so proud that he isn't disappointing. Damon is a very grateful person and it shows. He would do anything for Bonnie now because her sacrifice means the world to him at this given point. Yes, he as a friend shouldn't have compelled Alaric but there is no other way and he isn't going to waste time weighing out the morality factor. Everyone is still alive because of Bonnie so honestly no one should be even thinking about anything else at this point. I am sorry but Bonnie should be the priority and people should be grateful about her sacrifice.

The lore in this show is so fantastic and the way the writer are capable to unfold the stories bit by bit, masterfully planting seeds way before fully developing the story, without the viewer realising it, until they are given the chance to connect the dots, in the most sadisfactory and emotionally involving way, it is something I hardly ever seen in any other show. The Gemini coven story is pure dark horror story. And I love it. Surely their dad with his behaviour exacerbated Kay psychosis, but Kay is hinted was born a psychopath, being a siphon not a warlock, it is hinted that he was born with some form of deficiency. You don’t become a psychopath only because you are mistreated psychologically, it is an actual mental disease, triggered by many thing among which an infection attaching the brain cells, or epilepsy, or a brain tumour or a stroke, etc. There are many levels of psychopaty, some more severe, but not every psychopath become a killer, mostly they are a danger for themselves. They experience delusion, paranoia, depression etc. it can be treated if recognised early. In Kay case, the father fault is that he added stress to his paranoia probably triggering the worse side of it. Not only, but failing to recognise Kay mental illness, had terrible consequences. The fathers in this universe are so bad. They are the originators of so many problems. Anyway Kay is mentally insane there is no chance for him to have a redemption arc, he is simply mad. And Bonnie was stuck with him on the prison world. But he funded a way to escape, without the help of the Jo’s ascendant. Damon would do anything to save the people he cares and Bonnie is one of them, not even Alaric can stop him from going for i, in the most posssible straight forwars way. And nobody like him knows the urgency of it. Bonnie need to be rescued now and I am with Damon 100%. I like Jo, I love Alaric to bits, but Bonnie is Bonnie. Alaric Stefan and Damon are like three brothers, partners in crime and in banters and this time Stefan was the target with hilarious results. Damon's humoristic quick lines are surely one of the most entertaining things of this show. As much Elena is denying the truth about her love for Damon, it will come out at every corner. When Stefan told her that was easy to tell her the truth about being a vampire because he loved her, it became obvious to her that she is using Liam as an escape from facing full front the fact that “real normal world” is not her world, it is not what she wants and most of all is as boring and as annoyingly judgemental as Liam is. Also having now seen how Damon really is, the picture in her head and the reality of what she has seen so far doesn’t match. And the fact that Bonnie formed a connection with him gives her even more doubts about her actual feelings. She is resisting but her body language and the way she is talking to him is nothing less than someone extremely familiar and as close as only a many years “boyfriend/husband” can be. Little by little she is getting around the fact that her love for Damon is undeniable and not even compulsion can prevent her from being in love with him, because her love from him is out of choice, he is what has been look for, he is what she wants, he is her perfect match and unless you forget who she is, she will always go back naturally to what it is that matches what she deeply wants.

Your posts are such an added value of fun to the adorable and very relatable Sofie's recations.

The thing with Elena and Liam is this. Damon is the reason Elena came to terms with being a vampire, with the fact that she's not normal and never will be. Her relationship with Damon let her accept this. But then she forgot about her relationship with Damon, and so a lot of the developments she made in that area have gone, and so she went back to kinda wanting some normalcy, hence her relationship with Liam.

I suddenly got this image in my head of Caroline and Buffy hosting a thanksgiving dinner together...

I Am Not Chamari

I hate Kai so much and I don't think we can blame Kai's father for Kai turning out the way he did. It's hard to say. His father could have treated him better, or it could have been Kai's perception of how he was treated. He could have treated him differently, but maybe that was only after they noticed that he was sociopathic and hungry for power - not a good combination. I cannot see any reality where the father is worse. Sure, he's not winning father of the year and this was really shitty of him, but, in his eyes, he's doing this for the greater good. As his father said, Kai becoming leader of the coven isn't just bad news for the coven, it's bad news for the entire world. So, he's really just protecting everyone from his son. The whole "coven comes before family" thing really freaking sucks, but if you think about it, Kai's dad had to go through the entire thing of merging, so this is something that has been hammered into his head.

Loved By You

I hate him too!!! He’s not charming or even fumed by goodness he’s just nuts .
