Fatima Bah

OMG I got so excited when you mentioned Monell, I wish you didn't watch supergirl so you could react to it with us here.

Part 2 isn’t working😕

Part 2 ain't working

Nezaeya

Part 2 wasn't working, but it gave me an option to download it. That was so unexpected when you said "Mon-El!!". Missed that character. I stopped watching Supergirl, immediately after they wrote his character off due to many demanding toxic shippers. I'm so over fandom/shipping wars. They ruined that show for me.

Patpet

Ah ok so I'm not the only one part two isn't loading.

xbowalex

No enzo isn't hating on stefan because he has feelings for Caroline he is hating on stefan because he gave up on damon

izzy

chris wood looks young cuz he was in tvd first

Patpet

Kai is here! Yes Chris Wood, he did TVD first, before becoming Mon-El, and probably he got that part because of his performance in TVD, because of Kai and in the next episodes you will understand why.

Patpet

Damon and Bonnie are quite something, they are constantly bickering because they are both headstrong, but they actually love each other and this episode is proof. Bamon forever really good friends.

Patpet

Your reaction to Liam kissing Elena is what every single person that watch the show felt. 🤢 Liam is probably one of the most despiced character of TVD.

I Am Not Chamari

BAMON! Bonnie getting her powers back IS an iconic scene! Love that for her. But, it was all a part of Kai's plan. There is also a reason Damon thinks it's his Hell. Regarding Stefan, it's interesting that he's made Enzo his enemy. Interesting and infuriating. But, hey, I do understand where he's coming. Losing Damon was a horrible loss for him and everyone else is trying to move on and have fun, this is honestly Stefan's way of moving on. I don't agree with it, but I can empathize.

I have a love and hate relationship with this episode. I love it because the progression of Steroline’s romance and the presence of Enzo in general just brings me the utmost joy. Not to mention how beautiful I find Damon and Bonnie’s solidified friendship, resembling siblings in a way that feels as real as Jeremy and Elena’s own brother/sister dynamic. I hate it because watching Elena be so NOT Elena is somehow more upsetting than seeing her without her humanity. The missing pieces of her that are tied up in her memories of loving Damon have brought forth a person we’ve never before encountered in this show’s history. One whose only ever been hinted at until now. Party girl Elena. The teenage cheerleading wild child she was before her parents died. The one who met Damon on an abandoned road at sixteen and was so captivated by the idea of the life and romance he painted for her. But this Elena doesn’t remember that conversation, nor she does have any recollection of actually living that passion filled life that Damon not only told her about, but gave to her in death. This Elena is operating under the assumption that some specific desires she may have had for her life have gone unfulfilled. And because she doesn’t remember being granted the miracle of that life and love she craves deep within her soul, she doesn’t understand what the hollow place inside her really is. The one she’s trying so desperately to fill. That’s all I get from compelled Elena. That’s all I see in her eyes and hear in her words. She’s searching for something. Yearning for some person, some emotion, some glorious purpose to seal up the hole where Damon used to be. She may not realize it’s Damon that she’s missing. But with or without her memories of being with him, the loss of him is still affecting her. What the compulsion did is erase her conscious awareness of her grief. It rewired her brain so she wouldn’t recognize that emptiness within her for what it is, the intent being that in her compelled state she could have a fresh start and find something new to fulfill her and her eternity. And that is what she is trying to do. She’s behaving a bit like Stefan in a way. Throwing herself into a new life to escape the old one. But she doesn’t know that’s what she’s doing. She doesn’t think she has anything to escape from other than losing Bonnie, whose death she has supposedly already dealt with. And that is creating a massive disconnect between her and the people around her. For once, she is the one who isn’t able to sympathize with her friends’ present dilemmas. The compulsion has propelled her to move on, while the rest of her loved ones are still in various stages of emotional turmoil. The difference in her is so striking that everyone around her not only notices, but seems rather disturbed by it. In this episode Elena says 'Granted, said brother was a soulless, homicidal maniac but still'. And it is shocking because in the last five seasons, she has never been quite so blunt and cruel when speaking about Damon. From the beginning, even when he was at his worst, she silently championed him and his struggle to regain his humanity. This is the first time Elena is the one undermining Damon instead of sticking up for him. And it’s unbelievably painful and tragic to hear her refer to the love of her life as a soulless monster. But is is all by design. Because the real point of dragging Elena to this place of Damon hate is to put that look on Caroline’s face, as well as the rest of her friends. The one that just screams ‘who the hell are you and what have you done with Elena Gilbert.’ Until the tail end of last season Elena had gotten nothing but grief for loving Damon, for siding with him, choosing him, sympathizing with him, forgiving him his errors in impulse. Everyone she loves has questioned her faith in him at least once, and some a lot more than that. Yet here’s Caroline Forbes, listening to Elena call Damon a heartless psychopath, and looking for all the world like she’s never heard anything more upsetting and offensive. She’s been trying to get Elena to feel this way about Damon for years and now that Elena finally agrees she realizes just how ill conceived those perceptions of Damon are. And that’s why Damon had to die. To make everyone else understand what Elena already knew. That Damon’s a good person. That he loves and sacrifices and protects, and just because he does it in his own dangerous way doesn’t make it any less heroic and beautiful than the way the rest of them love. Because you can’t call someone who voluntarily committed suicide to bring his loved ones back to life a soulless, homicidal maniac. He’s anything but. And Caroline finally gets it. They all do. Even Stefan sees it. Emotionally impaired as he seems to be in the wake of Damon’s death you can read clear as day on his face that he’s not sure how to take this new Elena with her strangely functional outlook on life. Because the last time the two of them spoke, Elena was coming apart at the seams, begging him to give her even the tiniest ounce of hope that Damon would come back and admitting in tears that she can’t live forever without him. And now she’s sitting here with a smile on her face, cool as a cucumber like nothing ever happened. It’s in Stefan’s silence. Much as he might preach about moving on and starting over, deep down he hasn’t done either. He’s still holding onto Damon. And though he might not want Elena to suffer for eternity, there’s a measure of comfort that comes from knowing someone else in the world is missing your lost loved one as badly as you are. It’s something he and Elena have had in common from the start. They love Damon. They fight for him, forgive him, protect him, rely on him. And they both lost everything when they lost him. Except now Elena hasn’t lost everything because she doesn’t remember. She’s not missing Damon anymore. And Stefan is. Something he’s not nearly as okay with as he pretends to be.

Caroline and Enzo I absolutely adore their scenes together because they have a really cute and fun chemistry. A nice breath of fresh air amidst all of the present Delena and Steroline angst. I haven't mentioned how delightful I find Caroline in this season. She’s absolutely exceeded my expectations. Her attitude and behavior and insight is proving to be one of my favorite parts of these episodes. And her judgment of compelled Elena is particularly intriguing. Because she doesn’t just appear to have an issue with Elena thinking Damon’s a monster. She really just seems put out in general by Elena’s willful ignorance of the things happening around her. Like calling Elena’s current existence a zombie life. Which is probably the most accurate description you could give it. It’s not because they don’t sympathize with her pain or because they don’t want to help. It’s because the loss has turned Elena into the most diluted version of herself. Losing Jeremy earlier and now Damon took so much from her internally that being a part of her ‘old’ life isn’t an option. She couldn’t be around her friends when she lost her brother because she turned it off. And no humanity Elena purposely alienated everyone around her because she didn’t want to risk tempting her emotions back on. She separated herself from them intentionally, no differently than Damon did for most of his life until he met Elena. With Damon’s death, it’s not her switch that is causing the disparity. It’s her memories. When she erased Damon she also erased parts of herself that are entwined with those memories and emotions. She flipped a switch again. She’s behaving like someone whose chosen to disregard those losses entirely. She’s not ‘happy,’ she’s sheltered. She’s coasting along in this problem ignoring, zombie life because even the memories of grieving her other lost loved ones have been tainted. Elena’s outlet was Damon. He was her most sufficient distraction from the moment he entered her life. And he became her most consistent source of comfort and support as everyone was dying around her. Even in the midst of his own struggles with humanity, Damon provided an irreplaceable well of strength for Elena as she was continuously threatened by her own weakness. Loving Damon gave Elena a reason to thrive. Not just to live, but to want to live. The affect he had on her is such that his positive influence stuck with her. That’s why she tried to carry on with the drugs, to live her life as normally as possible while hallucinating him because she couldn’t stomach the loss. But everyone has a limit. And losing Damon was hers. When the notion of letting it in became too much for her she did what Damon taught her to do. She chose herself. She chose her survival. That’s why I do support the compulsion. Because the very fact that she values herself enough to want to carry on means that she understands and appreciates Damon’s impact on her better than we ever knew. And I loved loved the interaction between Stefan and Elena this episode because it was nothing but platonic. Even without her memories of being with Damon Elena still has no romantic interest in Stefan whatsoever. Because Damon was never the reason Stefan and Elena broke up. He was the catalyst for it, certainly. But he wasn’t the cause. Stefan and Elena broke up because they grew apart. They are different people now. Incompatible people. And all this tells us is that even if Elena had never fallen in love with Damon, or even met him, she and Stefan were never going to last. They didn’t have that kind of potential. But you can see in both of them that they have long since moved past whatever romance used to exist between them. They are genuinely at a place of platonic friendship, with no undertones of sexual tension or unrequited love. They have both moved on. They are both comfortable with how their relationship ended and how it has morphed into this great friendship. A friendship where they love each other and they know they do, but there’s nothing romantic about it. And it is beautiful and how it was meant to be. Lastly speaking about Enzo and Stefan's Clash. It isn't about Enzo's feelings or care for Caroline that is the root for this clash. It's only and only about Damon. Yes, Enzo does care for Caroline and he doesn't like her being hurt by Stefan's cold attitude but he isn't wanting to make Stefan's life miserable because of that. It is solely about Enzo feeling angry and disappointed in Stefan as a brother who has given up his search. Now, Enzo being a different person doesn't understand that Stefan is pushing everyone away because he is in a lot of pain and doesn't know how else to deal with the loss of his brother. Therefore, when Enzo appears at his door and talks about Damon, it triggers him. Ivy just became an excuse to take Enzo out of the scenario but it is about not wanting anyone to tell him that Damon isn't around and he has given up.

I also wanted to ask am I only one who was thinking that why was Damon not around when we got to see Elena rocking a bikini?! 😍 I would have liked to see his reaction.

Patpet

Elena in her bikini is an goodness of beauty and I must add, Jeremy too, isn't too shabby as well, the "siblings" in swimming costumes...wow!! Damon would have took her in a private place immediately but Damon in swimming costume would have had the same effect on Elena.

Patpet

Why erasing Elena memories is important in the story? The writers wanted first of all to give us the never spoken out loud reasons why Elena loves Damon, from her pov, when and why she fell in love with him. And they do it in the most poetic way, through the neckless, given to Elena by Stefan not as a romantic gift, but to protect her from Damon, necklace that she took off in Damon and Elena first trip and since then became a symbol of Damon and Elena relationship evolution, up to the point that, that very thing is the trigger of her love for Damon, coming full circle, as you perfectly noticed. How much her love for him is due to actual events that happened? Or is it something deeper, it is more due to two people characteristics, needs, their wanting for their life, personalities matching perfectly complimenting each other effortlessly and completely. Most of the time is both, but we are now exploring the question of what real love is made of. What would happen if we take away one of the factors from the equation? That is what I find fascination by the Elena’s altering memories. She was compelled by Damon to forget about him and to get what she wanted from life, and even though she forgot about meeting him, somehow she always search for him, for what she perceived him to be and she find him at the end, she find what she always wanted. So, is this new compulsion, altering facts, will be good enough to completely forget, she's ever loved Damon?

Bamon and the Introduction to Kai - two of my most favourite elements of this episode 😻The way both Bonnie and Damon smile at each other is just beautiful and Mainly seeing Bonnie getting her powers back after such a long time and the way she gets it basically to save Damon is just absolutely perfect!! Love it…

Loved By You

I think the reason Stefan and Elena broke up was because Elena was tired of feeling like she couldn’t be the vs,pore version of herself around Him, and she started to not trust him as much!!!! I love that it took Bonnie Bennet to finally call Damon out on his nonsense. Haahah it’s so refreshing.
