The scene with vampire Willow walking down the street is the inverse of Cordelia walking down an empty street in The Wish, same location and all. Two different people from two different worlds taking their first steps. Also "it was a call back to Faith". Yes, early in the episode Buffy is stressed out about wanting to be better than Faith. She proved that she is.
