Patreon has recently announced that they have to charge sales tax in more countries than previously:
https://support.patreon.com/hc/en-us/articles/360043054911

Depending on where you live this may or may be a change for you (eg. Patreon has already been charging VAT to everyone in the EU.)

Since this page is currently functioning as a tip jar, pledges are essentially donations and hopefully will not be taxed (or will barely be taxed) though again, this might vary depending on where you live.

(I have indicated on my end that pledges are for general support and community, not for any specific purchasable reward.)

When I sort out new tiers in the future, I'll do so keeping sales tax in mind :)

Thank you all so very much for the support <333

At least in the EU, Patreon doesn't distinguish. It sums everything up and adds the VAT.

I guess I'm in one of the newly-taxed states 🤷‍♀️ (or rather, my credit card is. I don't even live in the US anymore lol) I saw in the FAQ that they're not *allowed* to include tax in the prices in the US (explaining why creators can't just choose to absorb the cost in the pledge amount)... That's weird lol, I mean I knew it wasn't *customary* to include tax in displayed prices, but...

Yeah, so I've heard. It seems to distinguish for some US states, I think? So hopefully some people, at least, will have their sales tax minimised ^^;

Yeah it is weird. In Australia, at least, I often see sales tax included as part of a price so I'm not quite sure what to make of this.
