It was a late Friday afternoon, and I was just about to check out for the day. I had spent the past few hours clicking through Pinterest, adding furniture and things to the house I had dreamed about owning someday. It was another long day at 3DXcentric, a modeling agency downtown that featured some of the most interesting character actors I've ever met. To this day, it is a mystery to me how the firm finds the talent. It's even more of a mystery to me how these women are so completely convincing that they actually are the characters they play. I've never seen one of them break character, ever!

Just as I was about to log out for the afternoon, the click of sharp heels rang through the hallway. With each click, I felt the sudden urge to stand and salute.

Click, click, click.

"Bonjour mon ami," she said in perfect French, with a voice light and playful which sharply contrasted with her elegant military attire. A pair of golden pilot's wings - though unlike any I've ever seen or read about before - dangled from her chest. Her hair was a burnt orange color, and she had bright eyes of hazel. Her small, feminine ears featured two large pearl studs; they seemed to be something very out of this time - maybe the 90's?

I stood up as she extended her hand. I reached out and shook it. When the formality was complete, she returned her hand behind her back to join the other.

"I am Colonel Jeannette Devereaux of the TCS Concordia. Could you tell me where the officers' quarters are?"
