Better Visualization: Symbol
Free - 18:39 min

Visualization, the internal “seeing” of imagined vistas, people, objects… is such a special phenomenon.

It is so unique, varying greatly between different people. For some, visualization is at the heart of how they think, how they remember, how they imagine. For others, other senses take center stage, or sometimes even abstract, less sensory representations of things…

This audio may be of interest to anyone who wants to better explore visualization, but it may be of particular interest to people who want to experience richer, more detailed visualization, in meditation, trance, or your daily thinking life.

If you completely lack internal visualizations, the ability to visually “see” imagined objects in your mind, it is unlikely you will acquire this ability through practice. This is aphantasia, and it’s just how some people’s minds are.

There are still many experiences outside of direct visual object representations, that are similar to visual representation, that you can explore. Spatial representations, sub-conscious visual representations, even the idea of what things look like without actually seeing them, are all experiences you can strengthen and explore, even with aphantasia.

Whatever your current experience of visualization is, visualization can be a useful and fun skill to explore. This audio will teach and encourage you to practice a simple exercise to explore and enhance your visualization abilities.

Available here and in the Free MP3 folder. Available in binaural beats version in the Student Drive.

I just saw this today but haven’t tried it. It is really just what I am looking for. I’ll give it a go tomorrow morning.

I just got around to it today. I visualized a bicycle wheel I just built. I found I could not only see it and watch it turn in space, but I could feel it and the tension of the spokes, the light shining off the hub. It was pretty immersive for a time. Thanks for this lesson, it was pretty cool!
