Azura Cards (Patreon)
Content
Not a super long breakdown for this one. I began by taking a nice screenshot of Skyrim's Azura statue, then scaling it and drawing over it in Photoshop to isolate the printed and carved areas. I then threw in a quick watercolor image from google and tinted the lines blue to give myself a better idea of whether this print would look good at all.
Satisfied with the results, I printed the image and transferred it onto a sheet of Speedball EasyCarve rubber. Carving it was a breeze on everything except the face, which turned out too small to really transfer well from my sketch. I just winged it with my tools there, and luckily it turned out to look OK once printed. From there I did a loose watercolor wash on several 9x12 sheets, and then, once those were dry, cut them to the 4.5x6 size for printing on my little Speedball press.
As a finishing touch for patrons, I added a field of gold stars (visible in the closeup shot in the post header) to distinguish those cards from the 10 I'm giving away on Twitter.
