Vivec + Alchemy (Patreon)

Trans Day of Visibility was yesterday (March 31st) and I wanted to create something featuring two of TES' trans characters. This idea came to me first thing in the morning, and I spent a couple hours until lunch yesterday knocking it out. Here's steps:
I did the initial sketches physically in colored pencil. As you can see, I was unhappy with how the Alchemy side was going originally, so I used a light pad to flip and draw over the Vivec sketch to get the final Alchemy.
Next, I scanned them in, composited, and rescaled things slightly. I then drew in the table with something resembling perspective and traced the sketch for my final lines.
After that I lightened the lines and printed them straight onto a piece of 8x10" hot press watercolor paper (Fluid 100 brand). From there it was a simple matter of laying in the colors, usually starting with the darker outlines and then the fields. As you can see, I have a random assortment of gouache paints, ranging from nice high end artists stuff to half dry student sets. The quality difference is quite apparent in the final painting: the purple of Alchemy's robe was mixed from a magenta and cyan from Linel (student grade), and looks quite transparent and uneven, while the smooth and even dark blue-gray of her pants and sleeves is a M. Graham paynes gray and a Winsor Newton permanent white (both professional brands).
