Dear Patrons, Happy Sunday!

I'm diving straight into the technical stuff. In this case what you see is kinda what you get, but you can achieve different looks. Let me explain!

The sun is getting lower on the horizon -  light is becoming more directional. That's the perfect time to do those dramatic, contrasty images of nude girls we all love to see in social media. This through-a-window directional light (yes, the light is directional but it is not direct) works wonders - shapes the body, gives depth and atmosphere to the image, etc.

A bonus point is we're shooting in a very small one-room-white-walls apartament with lots of windows which means you have the luxury of fill light if you want it, you just need to position your model closer to a white wall (preferebly a wall reflecting some of that directional light), or whatever white/light you have around.

For my images I want the described above dramatic light. So in my case, to keep my images dramatic, I have to avoid white reflecting surfaces close to my model. I do it by making sure I'm sure positioning my model in the spots where there's the least amount of light and/or where there's a darker surface (darker surface absorb light). For example, the floor is darkwood, which eats a lot light. (Laying her on the floor is a good solution to keep the light contrast. Which we did but I'll get to that in a later post, because we did it a different time of the day and there was a flash involved)

The other thing here is exposure. I'm exposing more towards the left on the histogram, meaning I'm intentionally underexposing my images in order to preserve the highlights.

Everything else just playing with your model and surroundings.

I'll be sharing a behind the scenes video from this set soon which I think will help you understand the above better. Also, you'll see how I'm approaching posing. Stay tuned!
