Happy Saturday! I'm diving right in so consider the following two sentences a pro tip! I've only recently made it a practise to do testshoots with girls I haven't met or worked before, before investing the time and effort in an actual photoshoot. So far it's proven to be a game changer in my workflow!

Now, let's talk about the interesting way I photographed this set! Camera and lens don't play a big deal in this scenario. I could've shot this on my phone and get the same result. Lighting for this set is where it gets extra interesting.

If you're thinking "oh, it's just a big softbox with a grid!" you're almost right! Yes, a big softbox with a grid will probably give you a similar result, however, in this case there's  a bit of a twist.

If I tell you I'm lighting this with about a 20 meter high x 10 meter wide white-ish reflector I'll neither be lying nor exaggerating. Yes, you've read the dimensions rught! The light hitting the model is actually the Sun being reflected in a nearby builging's huge light-grey wall, coming through my studio windows.

To sum up, imagine a huge semi-white reflector (giving extremly soft light) coming through a smaller rectangle (giving the soft light diretcion) close to your model. I'm also using the mirror to reflect light back at the model, filling the shadows or introducing a rim light, depending on the angle I'm shooting.

Have a great weekend!
