Life Drawing Replay: Mariana (The Fates) (Patreon)

This video is a recording of a live Zoom life drawing session, aired on 3rd Jan 2024. This first session of the year follows a slightly different format to usual, with three sets of three poses to match the trio of Fates. The recording is released a little later than usual because Mariana kindly offered to take additional reference photos for us as a bonus! This isnt something most models are equipped to do, but we're lucky to have some extra reference for this wonderful first session of the year.  

The recording of the session is shared here so that you can catch up and draw from the session if you missed it, or continue to work on a drawing if you attended live. As this is a recording of a live session the quality is limited by Zoom and will be a lower resolution than our our tutored sessions which are recorded locally and undergo more rigorous processing before their release. Please feel free to work from the video directly, or to take a screenshot to work from - if you take a screenshot please do be mindful of the photo guidance below. About the session & model

• The Moirai, often known as The Fates, are the three sisters of Greek mythology who direct the destiny of mortals and gods: Clotho, the spinner; Lachesis, the allotter; and Atropos, death. Their cultural significance echoes through European culture, appearing in Dante's Inferno and finding equivalents in the weird sisters of Shakespeare's Macbeth as well as having parallel manifestations in other cultures, like the Norns of Norse mythology. In this session Mariana presents three trios of poses exploring the motifs of Clotho spinning the thread of life, Lachesis measuring out its length and Atropos preparing to cut it.
