How to use the photosets

Winter is upon us here in the UK and we've launched into the season with a series of photo-sets that embrace the ensuing darkness. We've kept to photo-sets with a cooler feel to them, from Tilli's icy blue background to the pale, diaphanous fabrics of Lucy and Frankie's photo sets. We've also embraced the red & white palette that is so readily associated with the festive season, with Wing Kei's signature leather gloves, Lilith's punchy clothed set and importantly our cameo from the big man himself. For the illustrators amongst you, and for anybody keen on a bit of Christmas themed drawing we have two substantial narrative photosets of Santas Claus in all of his seasonal attitudes, with sequential poses swing a sack over his shoulder, finding out who has been naughty or nice and knocking back the brandy. I hope you all enjoy this preview photo-set, it has been wonderful making new reference for you all this year and we're all super excited about what we'll be able to do in 2024 with your support. We can't wait to see what you make!

About the model

• Actor Doug Devaney is the man behind the beard - he is available for hire functions and video calls but is conspicuously unavailable for work on the 24th December when he apparently busy. 
• Lilith (they/them) is a main stay of the Draw Patreon and is back with some amazing life and portrait references. 
• Wing Kei is one of our newest additions to our Patreon-supported models, despite being a regular model at our Zoom sessions - she run ESEA Life in London and isn a prolific artist herself.  
• Lucy is also new to the permennat Patreon team another bought as much narrative and creativity to the shoot as she does to her live online sessions.  
• Tilli (they/them) is a long standing (no pun intended) Draw model and veteran of our photosets. 
• Frankie is the heart of Draw and modelled for us while she is pregnant - she recently gave birth to a lovely baby boy, so this photo set will be quite a step back in time!

Guidelines for using the photographs

Please do:

• Download these pictures to your own computers and devices, downloading the Zip files for all images, or saving individual photos.
• Use the pictures to draw, paint, print and sculpt from, being as realistic or creative as you like
• Share the artwork you’ve made with us and the world - in books, in exhibitions, on social media, or on your fridge
• Tag us in work you make (@drawbrighton / #drawbrighton) – you don’t have to, but we love to see what you’ve made!
• Edit the photo files as reference for your own drawings - you can change the contrasts, colours and backgrounds to provide more tailored reference for yourself.

Please don't:

• Share these pictures with anybody else – they are between you and us
• Share the photos themselves online – thanks for respecting our models’ privacy
• Edit the photo files themselves for artwork – we want to see original work you’ve made
