As June contained a 5th weekend we thought we'd add in a special bonus photo-set for all of our supporters! While Frankie was staying here at the Mawddach Residency she posed for an online life class in the shower and given the popularity of her life drawing session in the bath we put together a two-part collaborative series shot around the house. The first part of the series is here on the Draw Patreon and the second set of photos is hosted on Tier 2 of Frankie's Patreon for her supporters.

While it wasn't made in response to a single reference this photoset was shot with the history of great bathroom-themed artworks in mind. Degas's pastels of bathers, like his 1886 work The Tub provide a context for the bathroom as subject, while Bonnard's painting Baignoire regularly comes to mind.  Marina Cemmick's man in bath drawings use the bath as a frame for the figure - a themed that cropped up in our initial life drawing session - while Frankie's poses pressed against the shower door recall Jenny Saville's Closed Contact series of figures pressed against glass. The toothbrushing poses were taken with the paintings of saccharine strangeness of John Currin paintings in mind. We very much look forward to seeing what you make in response to this set on images and we hope to expand the series further in future, so watch this space.

Edgar Degas, The Tub

Pierre Bonnard, Baignoire

Jenny Saville, Closed Contact

John Currin, Blonde Angel
