It's been a while since we've shared a Drawing Circus photo-set. Although we gathered a wealth of images from our decade of touring around the UK we have shared most of our best photos here on the Patreon over the Draw Patreon (which you can always find HERE). Here in the UK we are on the cusp of summer and I though it would be timely to share this set of photos from 2017 of The Drawing Circus Encampment - a weekend where we decamped to the outskirts of Chichester for a day of drawing in an old farm courtyard. As was always the case with the Drawing Circus the fantasy of our narrative overlapped with the reality of touring on a shoe string - we finished setting up in the farmyard and slept in our vans overnight, wrapped up in the next days drapery. As the day unfolded and the sun climbed higher overhead the models bore out the hot weather with customary resilience while Naomi wheeled above on her aerial hoop. Perhaps none had it harder than the heroic Drawchestra, Robin and Piper, who played a day-long musical set on a stage floodlit by the beating sun. They now play as Bee & Jackrabbit, but in those earlier days they were a core part of our musical line up.

All of that set and costume is now boxed up in chests, suitcases and wicker baskets above the entrance to our Brighton studio. One day they'll come out again and we'll get back on the road but for now the Drawing Circus lives on only in the drawings you make of us, so I'm looking forward to see what might be sparked by the these snapshots of a wonderful day.
