Photo-set teaser: Jan/Feb/March 2022 (Patreon)

After the popularity of last years artist led Lemonade photo-sets, we commissioned Jade Hylton to direct a photo shoot of reference images to be released over the next three months. Jade conceived and directed the shoot, inviting models who wouldn't normally pose for life and portrait drawing as part of her Drawversity initiative - Jade came up with the idea of Drawversity in 2019 as a way of encouraging more diversity in the life modelling community. The sessions create a supportive environment where people of colour who might want to model for artists are invited to pose for a class clothed, semi-clothed or unclothed for any length of time that they feel comfortable; they are then offered further opportunities to model if they've enjoyed the experience. This photo shoot became an extension of those live classes, providing 5 people who responded to Jade's open call for new models to experience posing for our artists reference photo shoot and producing some fantastic images, which we hope you'll be able to translate into amazing artwork. As always the photos were shot by Olly Hearsey at The Brighton Studio. 

So what's next?
Over the next 3 months we'll be releasing sets of photos from the shoot on Fridays with the number of sets you can access relating to your tier of support. You can upgrade at any time to access more photos, and downgrade again if needed. If you're new to the Draw Patreon,  you can look back over our archive HERE on the Draw Navigator to find past photo sets of Draw life models. We have a database of over 3000 photos to choose from, separated by tier of support - all the featured models are paid a monthly royalty for the ongoing use of their images to inspire your work. 

What about the future?
In April we'll return to a more conventional set of portrait, life and clothed poses from Ines, Manko, Françoise, Adrian, Esme and Mat. We'll also be shooting new photos in April, funded by your support, so we'll be asking all supporters for your feedback on what you'd like to see. All tiers of supporter will be able to vote for the upcoming sets in a poll we'll put out in February.

Guidelines for using the photographs

Please do:

• Download these pictures to your own computers and devices, downloading the Zip files for all images, or saving individual photos.
• Use the pictures to draw, paint, print and sculpt from, being as realistic or creative as you like
• Share the artwork you’ve made with us and the world - in books, in exhibitions, on social media, or on your fridge
• Tag us in work you make (@drawbrighton / #drawbrighton) – you don’t have to, but we love to see what you’ve made!
• Edit the photo files as reference for your own drawings - you can change the contrasts, colours and backgrounds to provide more tailored reference for yourself.

Please don't:

• Share these pictures with anybody else – they are between you and us
• Share the photos themselves online – thanks for respecting our models’ privacy
• Edit the photo files themselves for artwork – we want to see original work you’ve made
