Lemonade Photo-set: Unboxing (Patreon)

Content
This photo set explores themes of presence, memory, place, storing memories, object permanence and the passing of time. Our model Mark flows through a series of repetitive interactions with cardboard boxes, actions characterised by their bizarre nature - this is a surreal and dreamlike set of photo reference. What forces are stored in these boxes? We store memories on digital devices, on (now retro) tape recorders, as mobile phone voice memos or video recordings. These objects become extensions of ourselves, storing and preserving us even beyond death, which is where both the appeal and uncanniness lies.
Recommended:
- To look at: Ruprecht Von Kaufmanns’ Book “Leben zwischen den Stühlen”
- To use: ‘Brilliant Pink’ oil paint by Michael Harding
- To read: ‘Krapps Last Tape’ by Samuel Beckett (for themes of storing memories in physical objects)
- Laura
ps. You can find a full schedule of future releases and accompanying teaser images of each set here.
