This photo set, in which Ines is pictured smudging her lipstick, eyes gazing fixedly at the camera, seeks to answer the question: What makes for an interesting portrait? The squashing and pulling of skin and facial features, the tension between fingers, pulled down lips and facial features, adds just enough of the unexpected to make an interesting  and unconventional portrait. The colour scheme has purplish hues and dashes of intense, bright blue - an aesthetic partly informed by the work of Malcolm Liepke, who’s voyeuristic paintings contains slick, thick brush strokes which contour the flesh and add flicks of glossy highlight to lips and eyes.
