I think, there is this other level of reality, that force users can access. And since the force is in everybody, there is an essence of everybody in this force reality. It is present in every Jedi and Sith temple - whenever they went there, they had these visions of people past and present. The visions they see there are not the people themselves but their essence in the force. And that reacts like the person would react in this situation. And maybe the force users feel it if somebody is communicating with their essence in the force, and maybe they can feed their thoughts to it. And when they become one with the force, their essence stays in this force reality and can communicate with force users who enter it and seek their guidance..
