It is interesting you both wondered whether or not the battle droids download into new bodies just like the Cylons. Before listening, I had been planning on posting that as a question for the next Q&A. I have to think the answer is no. If they did, they should be much harder to kill. Think about Scar from BSG. If they retained their experiences in each download, even a basic B1 battle droid would be rather formidable after a while.
