I mean, I'd think of it as troubleshooting the program? Making sure everything is working the way it's supposed to and that there haven't been any coding errors. Also allows them to develop their own personalities, as it would appear that each one is slightly unique.

What Kipp said is true. This is a world that has had some history with robots before. The public can be a bit weary of them still, and if anything is going to be looking after people’s children and loved ones, you would want to know that every possible precaution was put in place.

My headcannon is that if you want to replicate a human level of intelligence, it will work similarly and as such it will need to learn, at least somewhat. That also means they are able to arrive at unexpected conclusions...
