Patreon tiers overhaul! (Patreon)
Content
Hello everybody.
I just completed an update on all my tiers. In a nutshell, here are the few changes I made:
- To improve clarity, I renamed the Tiers. 2$ became Bronze, 5$ became Silver, 10$ became Gold, 20$ became Platinum. It's going to be easier to understand when I post stories and I say "for Silver and up" ... In most people mind, automatically they will understand that Gold and Platinum is higher. (hopefully)
- I updated the Tier images. They are now the Animal Café characters. It's just fun to personalize the page a bit.
- I refreshed/reworded the descriptions.
- I modified the exclusivity perk. Now you get the story 90 days before I publish them on public sites instead of 30 like previously.
You might pay less for your tier next month:
After a discussion with one of my European patrons, we noticed that he may have been taxed too much for the type of content I publish. What I mean by that, is that in some countries, there is a preferential tax rate on books and ebooks as many governments promote reading and it doesn't seem to have been applied in his case. (keep in mind that I have no means to know what the real tax amount is for an ebook in your country or how it is applied. This is not something the creators take care of.)
My understanding was that Patreon automatically detected the type of content I published and taxed the patrons according to the country's tax rate. Since we suspected that the tax rate was wrong for his country, I went ahead and selected manually the type of content I'm offering instead of letting Patreon decide. There is no way to know just yet if this will have an influence on your tax rate, but I'm cautiously optimistic. If this works, patrons living in countries where there is a preferential tax rate on books might benefit from it. Worst-case scenario, your tax rate will remain the same, so it's worth a shot.
Conclusion:
The content of my page will remain the same. Same stories, same amount of text as before, same topics. This update is all very cosmetic more than anything. I'll keep doing my best to provide you with fun stories to read. :) As for the tax... nobody likes tax. Unfortunately, even Kitty can't do much about it. ;)
