Lauren Schiller is a librarian. She has worked in academic libraries in a wide variety of positions and particularly enjoys working with rare books and with archival collections. (Sometimes the answer to "why are those things archived together" is "because that's how we got 'em.") She is interested in accessibility issues and library and archival activism.

This story comes out of a general love for Shakespeare and the Tempest in particular, and from helping Ada Palmer run the simulation of the Papal Election of 1492 for her history classes, which involved researching all of the people who might write letters to the students, and finding time after time, how awesome the women in the lives of the kings and cardinals were.
