Alter S. Reiss has worked as a field archaeologist and scientific editor, and has been publishing short speculative fiction since 2010.  His fiction has appeared in F&SF, Strange Horizons, Nature, Tor.com, and elsewhere.  His short novel, SUNSET MANTLE, was published by the Tor.com imprint in 2015.  Since then, he's mostly kicked his field archaeology habit and has been working on more ambitious writing projects.
