This movie is amazingly good, and also hard to watch. I knew Viki would be a mess watching this. Lots of heartbreak. Mel Gibson is an unbelievable actor, possibly one of the best ever on screen, and Jason Isaacs never fails to deliver as a villain. I am an American, and I have to be fair to the Brits: while all wars have their brutality, and all wars have their monsters, the brutality in this movie was way over-exaggerated. The kind of stuff that Colonel Tavington did during this film likely never happened during the American Revolution, or at least not to the extent that it did in this movie. The Brits were pretty civilized in war; they did not commit very many atrocities, and they would not have tolerated one of their officers doing things like they did in this movie. That is not to say bad stuff didn't happen in the American Revolution, but stuff on this scale was a little bitt much.

I almost forgot, that Heath Ledger played the joker in The Dark Knight. Proof that he was just an incredible actor, when you forget something so important. Thank you ladies for this incredible reaction ❤️❤️

I hate to break your bubble, but there is no such thing as honor in war on any side. War is not "civilized" as you said it. Go check out some stuff on war crimes on the internet and your eyes will be opened. Psychopaths have always existed and people tend to forget that. You can't fully trust what has been written in the history books. However, you can rely on the evil that psychopaths are capable of.

Dude just because war is brutal doesn't mean there are not good or honorable people or deeds done in war. Both can be true at the same time. Trust me, I know full well the reality of war crimes and atrocities, but I also know the stories of extraordinary mercy and honor between soldiers and armies during wartime. I ain't the one who needs his bubble broken.
