This movie is VERY loosely based on an (allegedly) actual true story, the story of Roland Doe, which is an alias I think. Like a lot of the other patrons I recommend The Exorcist 3 (skip 2), it's not as much body horror, but very creepy, very well written and directed (by the author of the original novel), and acted. Another exorcism movie is The Exorcism of Emily Rose, based on the (allegedly) true story of Annaliese Michel, a girl from Germany who sadly died from the experience, although it was argued in court (there was a whole court case over it) that her death was due to negligence and malpractice by those caring for her. Obviously these movies are much more terrifying if you believe in the possibility of demonic possession, the reactions in the 70s are crazy, people seriously couldn't handle this movie lol. I'm not for sure either way. I will say I grew up Christian, became an agnostic, then an atheist, very young, but now I'm back to agnostic with more questions than answers lol, because I lived in a slightly haunted house for about 4 years, wasn't bad, not to me anyway, a prankster, just seemed to want attention. I was the last to admit there was something weird in the house, I used to make fun of my girlfriend and the other 10 or so people on that property, who all had stories, until it started happening to me, then they all laughed at me because I had to admit I couldn't explain away what happened.
