Practically all ancients Kingdoms , handing a kingdom over to a woman was unthought of. Reason y that's the case , is becuz it would always lead to a breakdown on who would inherit the throne after her. What happens if Queen remarrys , or only has daughters, and her daughter marrys another man from another line ? Now the line of the kingdom has changed. These were all worries they had. Wasn't becuz they didn't think a woman could rule like everyone seems to think is reason they chose a male heir.
