I hope you enjoyed this movie. If you want to react to the following three (up to and including the fourth) I warn you (NO SPOILER) that the fourth will be the most "political" of the series: at the time of its release (1986) the situation between the USSR and the USA was very delicate because of the cold war, today we could draw a parallel with the same tension between NATO and the Russian Federation for the war in Ukraine. The next three Rocky movies are definitely worth seeing.

You're right that it's a love story first and the sports story is in the background. The point of it is that no one is going to win every fight. What's important is that you keep fighting. That's why when Rocky is having doubts the night before and says he just wants to go the distance (still be standing at the end), Adrian doesn't say any meaningless comforts like "You'll beat him!" She sees what's in his heart and understands that winning isn't what matters. What matters is to keep going with love and support for each other.
