The whole plan of D-Day was to get behind enemy lines in to Nazi Germany. D-Day was the largest seaborne & airborne invasion in history. Hitler built what they called the "Alantic Wall" that stretched from the borders of Spain/France to the entire coast of Norway. That whole coastline the Nazis had defenses set up on the beach like what u saw in the D-Day scene. The invasion was spread out in 5 sections in Normandy. This scene in the movie was on what the First Army called "Omaha Beach" it was definitely the bloodiest & deadliest out of the 5.... they're was 4,414 deaths in total on D-Day , and 2,400 of them were on Omaha beach.

Ellie feels physically unwell when she watches this, it just makes me sad to her in this condition, seeing young soldiers being killed and everything, just wanna hug and comfort her so much. Let her know it’s over now, but war is hell and truly a mans game 😔

2:34:09 , love that scene. The Captain fighting to his last breath , and to last bullet. Firing a 1911 colt pistol at a Tiger Tank , chances of winning that , literally 0%... never giving up , and never surrendering to evil
