Patreon Update - Sales Tax (Patreon)

Hey all, it's SatsumaLord here; just wanted to let people know that starting July 1st, Patreon will be officially charging people a sales tax on Patreon pledges.

Now, I'll admit that I'm not entirely sure how this'll affect my page personally, especially since from what I understand, the sales tax will be different from state to state, and the amount you pay in taxes will be based more on where you're from, rather than where the Patreon page is located; so because of this, it sounds like people will be paying different tax rates for the same tier, assuming they even have to pay a sales tax at all (since apparently not all Patreon tiers are considered taxable, depending on what the tier in question is offering and where the patron is pledging from - donation, recognition, and exclusive content tiers for example, appear to be considered tax exempt in most states).

In addition, most state's tax rates tend to range anywhere from 4% - 11%, so even if you are being charged a sales tax for being a $1 patron for example, you'd only be paying pennies extra; so, it won't be a seriously major change, but it'll still be enough for you to notice (though again, that's assuming that the pledge tiers themselves are even considered taxable).
