I don't know why there are certain factions of males that think impulsively shouting "HEY, WHAT'S YOUR NAME?" is the world's most sure fire ice breaker, but they ARE out there... and they are less than worthy to receive broken ice.

Pumpkin " I am 15 and my father is a cop". "F@ck off"

lol. Hey! I started this comic at 7am yesterday and just got done at 2:15am. I'm tired and that text is small :P

Dan

Is that Ian's place?

I'm confused. The nearest Publix--er, Public's--to Lakeland Senior High isn't as close to the school as the path seems to indicate. Further, there's one much closer to Quinn's apartment--only 8 blocks away. If she changed there, she'd have a lot less of the unwanted scrutiny in public on her walk down. And her directions have her going to the business site of a home builder. She should really avoid using Apple Maps. And if the Fountainview Apartments are as nice as the nearby Fountain Square Apartments, Ellie and Quinn must be paying through the nose in rent! I suppose it is worth it for the use of the complex's pool though.

I blame The Zombies, who also taught us to follow up with "Who's your daddy? Is he rich like me?"

Map Nerd. <3 (My undergrad was in geography, so, takes one to know one. >_> ) I got grumpy just like that in Walking Dead, when Carol and Daryl chased after the car from Grady. Based on in-show maps, Terminus was around Macon, but they said the car was going up I-85, which is nowhere near Macon. Plus, unless the Grady people had a crap-ton of fuel available, there's no way that Macon would be in their regular patrolling zone. ...But I digress. Great coloring, Jessica!

Jessica, I take it this is your first SS you've colored? Looks good.

Agreed. I like the brushstrokes, or perhaps pen strokes, in the hair, which helps suggest the lay of the individual strands, and which of you is responsible for the wall texture behind Pumpkin in the last panel? Also, the greenery looks real, the shadows, (especially in that last panel, again,) are wonderful, and the "wood" paneling on the front of the apartment building looks very convincing, (not as wood, but as the front of an apartment building). P.S. Anyone know how they make that? I'm guessing concrete pigment, a mostly cured concrete or stucco wall, and a large broom.

I really like how you've been getting creative with your "watermarks" and making them blend in so nicely with the art.

She's walking to Quinn and Ellie's apartment like she's been doing for weeks. Only now, she hears Quinn has company.

To address your question, Rusche, it's because they see (learn) from other guys doing it, and no one ever taught them better. Also, while I'm certain it's a minority, there are probably at least a few women who respond to that kind of thing for one reason or another. And then it becomes a sort of self-fulfilling, if twisted, logic: women like being catcalled and any who don't are just bitches (or other less flattering terms).

I really, really like the layout of this strip. I love how the map is the base of the strip and breaks out the important locations in insets. Very nice. Also, Lake Hollingsworth makes another appearance :)

Because the quality of female that they chase give in to the popularity of the caller due to the quality of it's plumage, or effect thereof. However, those people are just in the clique of getting dates and such just for the popularity aspect of how they look. There's nothing underneath, however, life may allow for a meaningful personality to emerge if enough personal growth has occurred.

Or maybe have the ice broken over their heads.

That only opens the door to a conversational confrontation that she wouldn't want. They aren't worth the threat of a cop father.

That One Guy

Sure, everyone knows that, "Please allow me to introduce myself, I'm a man of wealth and taste" works better.

That One Guy

I've always thought another factor is that it's not uncommon for either gender to attempt subtlety when interested. So if someone's good at subtle, object of affection won't notice. That's where the occasional guy who's completely scattershot can seem more successful, convincing others it works. Though also in that vein I sometimes wonder if the human race would've died out long ago if we had been better at being subtle, too.

Wow, that's a long walk....like, 5-10 miles? That is some dedication there.
