This Month’s Completed Projects
I was hoping to finish a bit more animations in my backlog, but my month’s been focused on the Thanos animation, the animation commission for 2GS Bootlegged, and the Gohan video. Let’s first talk about videos that I finished that will be uploaded sometime in October or November.

The first animation I finished was the SAO parody. One thing to note about this animation was that I rendered the animation on a map that specializes in anime shaders. To be honest, I did not see much of a difference than how I light in Black void. I’ll talk to my friend Finalleet to see if I screwed up somewhere, but I’m not really convinced. I’m planning to release this animation around the time SAO season 3 comes out.

Another short animation I finished was a request from my friend Gammalad. He saw someone posted a 4chan Green Text story and asked if I could animate it using Akechi from P5. This did not take long to animate, and this was the first Persona 5 animation I lit since I don’t really like how the models look when you apply SFM’s lights to them. Even though the animation was relatively short, the punchline was worth it. Expect the animation to drop around November.

Now for the animations I HAD to finish this month. For Shonen Jump month, I finished an MRW Bleach video which…might be the most controversial animation I’ve done on the channel. I might make another Bleach animation in the future that’s more focused on satirizing the characters, rather than the sad state of Bleach. You can find the animation here.

The other animation I had to finish this month was the DaiBrigade Script Jam 2018 video, which should come out tomorrow. I had some difficulty finding the right Thanos model since Thanos’ gauntlet gets removed in the video and a lot of the Thanos’ SFM models out there had the gauntlet attached to him. But I did like how the lights look on Thanos and I might make another one down the line.

The other animation I finished was the Gohan video since I felt like it was necessary for the T-Shirt sales. The only regret I have for the video was putting Yamcha in the line since a lot of people thought Adult Gohan was in the line. Either way, you can find the link to the video here.

The final video I finished was a Takashi animation I did for my friend 2GS Bootlegged. This animation he commissioned in April, but I’ve been struggling to find time to work on it until July. The one thing I was surprised by was how the Takashi model looked when lights were applied to him. It honestly did not look that bad. I might ask Peixoto, who made the Takashi model, if I could mess around with him in Blender. You can find the link to the video here!

This Week’s Ongoing Projects
I know I mentioned it in June, but I’m finally working on the MGSV animation one Patron commissioned me to do. I honestly was hoping to finish it last week, but I had to finish the 2GS animation before the August deadline. However, I anticipate I will finish it in a few days. The only thing I’m concerned about is animating a skipping scene for the video, which I’ve never done before. But hey, you gotta get out of your comfort zone occasionally.

I also wrote several new scripts in July. I wrote a script for a Broly parody, a Sonic parody, a Certain Magical Index parody, and this year’s Halloween special. All I need to do is to write the script for this year’s Christmas parody, and all scripts for 2018 will be done!

Now I’m going to talk about model work done for this month. During the Fate/Extella stream, one Twitch Sub suggested I animate a highlight from the Stream involving Tamano and Nero. I did not want to use the models I used in my “Nero The Artist” video so I asked my friend, Guiman, if he could rip the Fate/Extella model for the stream video. I haven’t messed around with them yet, but already they look much better than the MMD models I’ve used.

The other models I had to download was a Johnny and Gyro model from Eyes of Heaven. No, I’m not going to use them for my Bad Jojokes video but for the Astoflo video. They’re necessary for one of the jokes in the video.

Original Animations Work
Now I’m going to talk about something a little different. I’m going to talk about work I’m doing regarding original animations for the channel which will be animated in Blender.

First things first, for these animations, both of them will use Toon Shading for them. I’ve got the shading down, but the problem is that the shadows could use a bit of fine tuning. I’ve talked to Dillion, the person who animated the Overwatch Unleashed videos for tips on better Toon Shading. I’ve implemented some of them thus far and going to implement more this month.

Now what are the ACTUAL animations I’m planning on working on? I have two original animation projects in the works. The first original animations I plan to work on are animated highlights for the DaiCast. Normally, I would just animate them in SFM, but I want these animations to be visually different from the regular SFM animations I’ve done. To cut down on costs, I’ve commissioned Peixoto to develop a prop pack for me. Not only will this prop pack be useful for the podcast animations, but they would be useful for the other Blender animations I do.

The other project I plan to work on is a short film called “Hamster Face Man.” It’s going to be an Action Comedy in the same vein as Kung Power (go watch that film if you haven’t). Basically, it’s a kung fu guy with the Japanese Hamster Face emoticon for his face. I’m almost done writing the script and I will be asking my friend, Roli, to storyboard the fight scenes in it. However, I won’t begin work on this project until September.

Keep in mind that these projects are far more expensive than any of my past animations. The podcast animations I had to spend $300+ to get started. However, this will be the initial cost for them and I anticipate they won’t cost much to make in the future.

This Month’s New Ideas
No new ideas to talk about this week!

And that’s it! Quick reminder that I do have a Discord server which you join here. I’m active there and post some WIPs in the Patron chat. With that said, thanks for reading, and I hope you have a wonderful day or night! See ya!
