I’m assuming a lot of you guys know this, but I’ve been animating in Source Filmmaker for almost 4 years now. In the past four years, I worked hard to go from an engineer looking for a way to make his life happier, to a competent Source Filmmaker animator with a semi-large YouTube following. I’m honestly proud of the progress I’ve made in the four years I’ve been doing this as well as the friends and fans I’ve gained along the way.

Normally, a post like this would then transition into something like “I’m sick of animating” or “I’m quitting animating.” That’s not the case. In fact, I want to talk about where I want to not only take this channel but my content creating career.

For the past several months, I’ve been teaching how to animate in Blender. I thought I wouldn’t make ANY progress with learning how to use Blender, but even I’m shocked about how much progress I’ve made. I reached a point in animating in Blender where I can animate a short skit in it if I wanted to once I setup an easy to use rig for the characters I’m animating. Another thing I’ve been learning how to do storyboard, and animate action scenes. Right now, there are still much I need to learn, but it’s a work in progress.

So why am I teaching myself Blender? Why am I teaching myself how to animate action scenes? To be honest, I want to start putting out original content on my channel. Content beyond “Source Filmmaker parodies.” Lately a thought occurred to me:

"These Source Filmmaker parodies are nice, but will people remember them years from now? Will they really be memorable? "

That’s when I realized that people remember original content far more than parodies. So sometime soon, I plan to work on and release original animations on the channel in addition to the SFM parodies on there.I currently have two original projects I wish to work on. One is a original comedy series, and the other is an action comedy OVA/series that’s similar to Gainax’s 2000s works. However, both projects will require money to get them done.

No, I do not plan on increasing the tier rewards to accomplish this goal and SFM animations WILL NOT GO AWAY FROM THE CHANNEL. I wanted to bring this up to let you guys know that the money for the pledges will not only go towards working on SFM animations, but original projects down the line. I just thought I share with you guys my vision for the future of the channel. I will be sharing you guys progress on these projects when I feel like I ready to start working on them. If you guys have any comments or feedback, feel free to post em.

With that said, thank you guys for reading, and I hope you have a wonderful day or night! See ya!
