The first video of 2024, and boy is it a whopper. This could basically be called "Fear of Puppets" given how much research went into it, so please enjoy!

If you haven't read Antkind, it's got some great perspectives on puppeteering.

Lou Wilson's portrayal of Pinocchio in Dimension 20's Neverafter was probably my favorite Pinocchio. He draws more from the original Pinocchio story than the subsequent retellings--the crueler version of the tale. Lou's Pinocchio is hilarious, yes, but also grapples with the question of why he's been brought into existence in such a cruel world, and the temptations of just losing yourself to hedonism. The blue fairy (spoiler) isn't portrayed as a force of good, but rather a force of destiny--the god-like authors of the fairy tales imposing their will on the characters. Don't wanna spoil even more, but it's a great addition to the Pinocchio-verse!

Hi Jacob - fantastic video! As an upcoming video essayist, I was wondering if it was ever in the cards to make another behind-the-scenes "process" video like the one you did for the beheading video? I found it super helpful to understand your process!
