Let's get artsy!!

Also- due to some wonky scheduling stuff with the sponsor, this vid will be going public at about 3pm(EST) today. I know that's a slightly shorter period of exclusivity for y'all than normal, it shouldn't become a pattern. Cheers!

Really great piece! As a relevant aside, VR developers spend a TON of time on "small" objects. I know from a sound design perspective something like an apple can have upwards of 40 sounds built in to it (high velocity/low velocity collisions, surface specific sounds, rolling, grabbing, interacting) while some large set pieces have, maybe 4ish sounds. It's all about those intimate actions!

So glad Florence is getting the attention it deserves

Yes, still life can most definitely be punk! One of my favorite niches of punk rock are songs that address the ennui of suburban banality, which could be interpreted as a musical equivilent of stilI life. Coffee Mug by The Descendants is the most obvious one that comes to mind, although its pretty literal. I think the best example of the themes of your video would be one of my favorite songs, Lost in the Supermarket by The Clash. I’m sure there’s others I can’t think of this early in the morning.

Appreciating stillness seems incredibly relevant now that we have more intimate time with our common spaces, our close corners and rooms. Really enjoyed the craft on this video!

Love this video essay. I've always had a fascination of lived-in places when people aren't in them and I think it's something to do with the way our stuff tells a story. Or many possible stories. I remember making inspiration notebooks for writing that were stuffed with images of set-dressed rooms from catalogues because they just evoked in me this sense of possibility. Why is this here? Who put this here? What kind of life does the person who lives here lead? I love games like Gone Home where a lot of the story is told, not so much through the explicit narration, but in the player's exploration and interpretation of ordinary items.
