So I've been meaning to talk about my workflow, and how I make what I make, but I'm never really sure whether or not people actually want to hear me drone on about the nitty gritty of making animated filth. It's also why I'm usually a bit hesitant to post Work in Progress stuff, but I digress.
So I've never had any formal education in animation, and I just do whatever worked for me. The problem is that I had no idea what I was doing for the longest time, and I still don't understand a lot of what goes into quality animation. I've been studying other artists and how they work a lot, and I've reached a few conclusions I'll need to work on.
First things first, I'm a very chaotic person. An idea will pop into my head about an animation, or I'll see a cool bit of porn or another animation, and I'll think "Oh neat I can do x and y and use this pose and these characters" and then I create an animation loop and a pose in like 30 minutes flat. But then the problems start arising. I don't build scenes or settings for what I make, or do lighting and so on.
Why is that a problem, you might ask. Well, if you make the animation first, and then consider the setting and scene later, you're stuck with a lot of work ahead. I always have to move my models and animation and camera around to fit in a random scene or map I have lying around. The result is that it takes up a LOT of time. Like, I have about 3 animations completely ready at the time that I'm writing this, but I have to fit them in maps or scenes and do lighting for them, and it's such a time robbing process that I just postpone it and start working on yet another animation.
I'm a pretty stubborn person, so it might take a while for it to seep through, but the goal is to basically make a poster first, with a full scene built, including lighting, and animate it after. Don't eat desert before you finish dinner, basically.
Anyway, thanks for supporting me again this month, I saw a big uptick in patrons the last month, so I'm glad you guys are enjoying my content! If you have questions or want to talk, feel free to get in touch or post them here!
