Figured out what was really slowing the sample-rate down and creating noisy renders and previews. It was reflective and refractive surfaces like glass or windows having bump maps and normal maps.

Specifically the front window, where most of the light comes through and the ceiling lights were slowing things down a lot. So I removed a lot of unnecessary bumps and normals from various surfaces and optimized and categorized a lot of the models and props in this environment.
