I've never touched a Mass Effect game. It's on my list to play though, don't hate me just yet. That said, I love the look and the quality of these models. They're so fun and easy to work with. And we don't have a lot of redheads.

For the volumetric lighting in the back I put it pretty far back and put a black flat material under their feet and put the light just above the "floor".

Put the radius up a bit and it creates this effect.
