I was excited for Cyberpunk 2077 and I've been playing it since it came out. I haven't had any crashes but every minute there would be minor bugs. Mostly visible, but every once in a little while a bug would need a restart from checkpoint. I personally have a high tolerance for bugs, but if you don't, I'd steer clear for now.

I love the cyberpunk genre. I ADORE Blade Runner 2049, so I'm lucky that the game looks like fucking Taylor Swift. It is gorgeous and amazing to look at. I haven't found a place in Night City that looks visibly underwhelming. However, like Taylor Swift, it's equally as deep. The interaction with the city and the environment is lackluster. There's not a lot to do in the city apart from shooting "bad guys", shopping for clothes, weapons or equipment and driving to the next quest marker.

The game's advertisement and interviews made it sound like there was a lot more role playing in here. But unfortunately that's really not here. You can't make V into yourself or a character of your own, it's really just Fallout 4 all over again.

I'm not going to spoil the story but it's pretty good. I felt a connection to some of the characters and the story was interesting and kept me intrigued so much that I really wanted to know what happened. Unfortunately, at the end of the day, you don't have a lot of say how the story goes though. It was better and more satisfying than TLOU 2.

I'm not looking for pretty games anymore though. I'm looking for interesting, deep gameplay. Fallout New Vegas, MGS V (a little bit), Rimworld. Games where you can immerse yourself and have more freedom in what to do. I want more complex gameplay, not more complex set dressing.

Overall can I recommend the game? Depends.
Do you like the cyberpunk genre? Do you play the game for the more immediate satisfaction of a lot of killing and gathering loot and equipment? Do you like driving around and looking at the amazing scenery on display? Do you have a high tolerance for bugs?

Sure, get the game. Just not on current gen consoles. Never on that.

If you're looking for a role playing game with depth and interaction with the environment where you can immerse yourself in a dark city?

Don't get the game. You'll leave a little disappointed like me.

Also, with Cyberpunk in my head right now, I've gone ahead and started working on some Cyberpunk pieces.

I had some time on my hands to write this out really quick whilst DAZ was loading shit. I don't regret paying for the game, but the bugs were straddling that line. I was more disappointed in the lack of role playing and being sold another lie like TLOU 2 was. The absolute state of gaming in 2020. The absolute state of 2020.

Given my experience with the studio making Witcher 2 and 3, and then this game, it was exactly as I expected honestly. There was no way it was going to live up to what people had in their heads that it was. I was perfectly fine with roleplaying Geralt, and established character, through his story. And I've been fine with what options there are as V. As for the technology, people should have realized it wasn't going to work so hot on last-gen. The graphics cards in the PS4 don't have the ability for their registers to handle what ray-tracing requires; and the whole of Red Engine 4 is contingent upon ray-tracing to help pull the visuals together. Also, CDPR games have all been buggy at launch. Hell, they've remained a bit buggy throughout their lifetimes too. You'll still find there are occasionally animation hiccups or Roach spawning ontop of buildings in Witcher 3.

I'm not 100% in agreement with you here, you make some great points; CDPR's releases have always been broken at launch, but I think that's just what happens when your aspirations for a title are too high for what most people have for hardware. I also agree that people's expectations were maybe too high, they hyped the fuck out of this and people got excited accordingly. That said, "People should have realized it wasn't going to work so hot on last-gen."? Then they shouldn't advertise that it does run and their CEO shouldn't say quote: "It runs surprisingly good." on last-gen. The entire problem for me was their advertising, same as TLOU 2. They were misleading by saying that it's an RPG, where it's really not. The city isn't really "living", although that's a subjective term, sure. A living city might mean something else to you, but it's just a facade. A long ass menu that you have to travel through to get to the next marker. I don't agree with the ray-tracing comment either, I don't run it with ray tracing and the game looks stunning. It's like going blind into Fallout 4 after playing New Vegas but with the bugs of Fallout 76. Bit disappointing.
