Hello my loves!

Today I wanted to chat a little bit about 3 questions I like to ask myself at the beginning of each year, and now I'm starting to even reflect on these 3 things at the beginning of each quarter.

I fully believe that having a firm answer to each of these questions will help you show up better in your marketing, online presence, and speak more clearly to your ideal target audience!

#1: WHO the f*ck are you?

What is your background? What are your interests? What lights you up and brings you joy? When clients are booking us for our services, they are booking us for US. For who we are! So being clear on who you are (and having it on your website, posting regularly on your socials with personal tidbits) is a huge part in speaking to your ideal clients.

#2: What is your WHY?

This should be the core of your biz, what makes everything else fall into place. WHY are you a boudoir photographer? WHY do you do what you do? What is your story that has brought you to this industry that helps heal and capture people (sometimes at their most vulnerable). Dig deep with this one. Inspect it. Poke at those inner squidgy feelings. Go deeper than "I want to make people feel good!" because there's lots of boudie photographers saying the same thing. What is YOUR story? What is YOUR why?

#3: WHAT makes you different/WHAT is your super power?

There are THOUUUSANDS of boudoir photographers now – this industry is BOOMING and exploding. Being clear on your WHAT is going to help you stand firm in your power and know what you have to offer clients that is different than everyone else. Find your super power and wield it loudly and proudly.

EXAMPLES!

WHO: My name is Misty Moss – I'm a boudoir photographer, self portrait artist, and burlesque performer. I started doing burlesque and boudoir in tandem 7 years ago, when I was in a place of deep loathing with my body and accidentally stumbled upon these two art forms. These two passions have always been intertwined – one feeding into the other. Unlearning my own toxic body beliefs through burlesque, celebrating myself unapologetically (every roll, every jiggle, every curve), and helping others move through their own beliefs and feel good in their bodies through Boudoir Photography.

WHY: I have always been drawn to the muses of the renaissance – to people captured in their bodies in a way that feels so authentic and natural. There is no shame or uncertainty in these muses – they enjoy their bodies in all their glory just the way they are. Then, over the centuries, our society shifted and became obsessed with controlling it's marginalized genders however they can – enter: diet culture. Where we are made to value our worth just on our external appearance, distracting us from living our lives to the fullest and dismantling the patriarchy. My WHY is to reclaim that feeling of unhindered celebration and acceptance of our bodies. To unlearn those toxic body biases, and celebrate our damn selves just the way we are.

WHAT: As a neurospicy queer with a special interest in the way light falls and paints a client skin – I facilitate spaces that are full of compassion, gentleness, and full acceptance of the uniqueness of each client. My super power is lighting + compassion. I excel at finding ways to paint my clients body with lights – highlighting their features that resemble an oil painting. While also highlighting their soul – painting their heart with affirmations and love so that they leave my studio feeling lighter and more in love with themselves.

I'd love to hear yours! Comment them below!
