That black guy

This one is a toss up because if you haven't read the series it's based off, it possibly isn't gonna be your cup of tea but if you did, it may hit at some of the better parts of the teens writing. Reign reference is always a fun one but feels wordy, though that is typical Abrams and Bendis style writing so fits. Slightly weird to have absolutely ancient aunt may comment on her nephews and grand nephews sexual exploits but it fits her characterization in that story

Spooney Bard

Bloodline is a book based on the unfinished five issue Abrams and son alternate universe tale. In some sense this is a perfect adaptation, in that all the issues that plague the book are replicated here. Henry works through his issues with dad by blowing us all away with his unique take on Spidey thats been done endlessly at this point. Tracy has done a better job with only eight pages in original works. What we're left with is a very fine original work in which a nervous virginal young man begins a sexual journey lead by an edgier (but still caring) and more experienced peer. It even ends in his bedroom. Yeah we were here at issue two in the Tracyverse. On the plus side there is good character work, very funny bits and two good setups that work in the varied locations. All that was good but it was hard to feel much of anything.

I never read the comics that this was based on but I just wanted to comment that it's very well-done. Nice characterization, nice pacing, good scenes. No complaints. Really I wish more of the books were this well executed.
