It's hard to find just the right chords, but perhaps even harder is finding ways to move smoothly between them. Well, ok, it's not that hard, but it's important! Voice-leading is the art of breaking your harmony down into single-note lines, almost like little melodies, and using those lines to glide gracefully through even the most complex progressions. It's pretty simple to do, but as with most things, the more you look at it, the deeper it gets, and there's certainly plenty of room for finesse if that's what you're looking for.
