Born in Africa, brought to the Americas by slaves, and eventually showing up in musical styles all over the world, the Clave is one of the defining rhythms of modern music across cultures. It's complex but approachable, jagged but smooth, and odds are pretty good that even if you didn't notice, you've heard it somewhere in the past week or so.

Hey! Brazillian fan here! :) Great video! I loved to see Bossa Nova closeness to other Latin American rhythms. This year we're celebrating the 60th Bossa Nova aniversary - in July 10th, 1958, João Gilberto recorded "Chega de Saudade" for the first time and started a new era for Brazillian music. For us, it was him, not Antonio Carlos Jobim, who invented the Bossa Nova Clave. And this is really an new clave, not the re-introduction of an old African clave.
