Can a song be bad? I mean, obviously, right? I'm sure you've listened to plenty of songs that you haven't liked. But... is that the same thing? Maybe someone else loves that song. So how do we define badness in music? Can we quantify musical quality in any meaningful way to determine whether or not a song is good, and if so, how? Just relying on personal taste probably isn't enough, but do other measures exist to help us out?

I had never listened to the Shaggs until you made mention of them. My initial reaction was to think "oh my god, I can never un-hear this!". However, I couldn't turn it off. I think you chose the correct word when you said there is something "compelling" about it. It's like innocence, sadness, and dysfunction all wrapped up into something that's oddly mesmerizing. It somehow struck a chord(no pun intended) in some hidden corner of my psyche. Anyhow, great video overall, certainly makes you stop and analyze how we quantify quality. If I'm still humming "foot foot" a week from now though, I lay the blame on you. :)

I totally feel you there, "Who Are Parents" is the one that tends to get stuck in my head...
