First of all, let me add something for your statement "we should have had a 40 minute episode" for the first episode, I haven't read LN, but in terms of content, if they tried to fit 2 episodes in 40 minutes, the content would be incomplete and would not leave a good taste in our mouths, so we are lucky that we didn't watch a 40 minute episode. And we are watching a very well maded series now with such beautiful animations, with the way they present everything without caring about the censorship, especially I can easily say that hiroyuki sawano has done his best work in this anime, although I have been following it for 8-9 years, because I have never seen sawano doing such a good job like this, we are watching a masterpiece, I can even publish an article about the video and anime, but I don't want to talk about it for a long time. I think it should've been like 2.5-3 episodes combined into the first episode, it would've kicked the series off much faster and cleaner. Again, we are going into episode 3 without even all of chapter 1 being adapted yet. I'm not asking for them to cut things, I'm just saying it would've been a much more engaging kickoff like Oshi no Ko and Demon Slayer have done before.
