That wasn't Megumi's mom that was his step-sister from his father's remarriage his mom died so toji spiraled into depression and became a deadbeat after his first wife's death. for clarification on what fake Geto did he used idle transfiguration and bounced it off of the barrier the Tengen has been suspending around japan for the last 1000 years to accomplice one of two things 1) strengthen the bodies of the people he feed cursed objects to so that they can become vessels 2) rewire the brains of the people that had the potential to become sorcerers but had the brains of Non-sorcerers thus preventing them from using their techniques. So next season we are getting ancient sorcerers reincarnating into modern day and a whole lot of new modern sorcerers. fake Geto was just releasing thousands of curses that he had gathered while in Geto's body.

Fun fact about this episodes intro, it changed two things. It showed a quick snippet of Yuta(thankfully you didn't notice) and it showed the growing amount of curses spreading from Shibuya. Also the hire ups been wanting to get rid of Gojo from the jump cuz he's been a pain in their uppity asses. So this was a perfect excuse and scapegoat blaming Geto, Gojo and by association Yaga. They don't care about the power imbalance of Japan
