The theory is Sailom has always known that Kanghan was the boy that gave him the umbrella, he had liked him since then. Hence when they were talking about liking maths, he said "I used to love it but now I'm liking it less", it had double meaning, he always liked him, so was disappointed at how he changed after his mum passed away. I think he is trying to fix him now as he believes the good is still there. And I agree, the series feel a bit rushed, I think the tutoring actually went on for ages but the way it's shot made it look like it was one day and next, my guess is they are trying to fit everything in the book in 12 episodes haha

in terms of the friends what is it is is they’re just followers - whatever kang says and does is the rule. i’ve seen that happen enough irl too with bullies and their friends. not even just bullies but in friend groups in general where there’s a clear “leader”. the top dog always calls the shots so if kang doesn’t care about bullying anymore then neither will they. so pathetic but sadly realistic. you know last week I said i hope kang doesn’t completely change but honestly i’m here for it after watching this episode. yes part of it is because i’m entertained and i think they’re cute so i’m giving it a pass but i think it makes sense that he’s so nice to sailom now because he likes the feeling of being needed and wanting someone to pay attention to and believe in him. he’s latched onto sailom so him treating him nicely without any instances of him slipping back into old ways makes sense to me. however i also don’t think it’s the end of kang being an asshole to sailom even if accidentally but we’ll see if i’m wrong. i think the real testament to if he’s completely changed is how he’s going to act if sailom or someone else pisses him off again (we saw him fight the person harassing sailom but i don’t count that because reacting like that makes sense). i will say i hope there’s proper apologies for the bullying that occurred though even sailom didn’t care about it he still deserves one and especially sailom’s friend auto deserves one.
