I actually really enjoyed this episode. I don't think Souta was so much struggling with liking Mahiro as he was pushing Mahiro away because he thought he loved Liu-san. He got confused, not just because of the hug, but because of all the things that Mahiro said when he was talking about Souta, but Souta thought he was talking about Liu. I think he was just dating the girl as a consolation prize. It is refreshing to have an ex come back in an Asian drama and not be a complete idiot. It was cute how Souta was freaking at Mahiro and Kosuke calling each other by their first names. Most people in Japan, men especially, use each other's last names. Culturally, characters that do not know they are in love is pretty much a trope in Japan and Korea outside of BL. There are even a couple of dramas where the character will think they are sick and try to treat themselves like they have a cold. Also... how they both look up at the moon that night. In Japan and most of East Asia, the moon means I love you.
