Yutaka's lady coworker is my favourite kind of "Woman in a BL", the support sister. The one that is there to support our couple with or without knowing it. She reminds me of Fujisaki in Cherry Magic. I love the "small trauma" of Yutaka and his family. we have lots of shows with big trauma where huge horrible things happened to the characters in the past. But Yutaka's trauma is just a couple of bad things his brother said offhandedly that he took to heart. I mean, if you have a sibling, you have said something pretty horrible to them at some point. I love that small trauma is starting to pop up more in BL stories. Firstly, because most people have small trauma, some "little thing" that someone said or did that they never really got over. And secondly, it shines a light on how we need to reflect on ourselves that we are not the cause of someone's trauma without even knowing it. Because the brother never thought Yutaka's withdrawal from the family was his fault, not even now. Dad dragging Minoru by his hoodie and throwing him and his coat into the hallway was hilarious. Culture note... New Year's is a family holiday in Japan. People spend it with their blood family or their chosen family. I, for example, always head back to my old city to spend it eating sushi with my Korean big bro and his friends, before we go to do he first shrine visit (in the freezing cold slippery azz snow, since I am a northerner). So it is really significant that Yutaka and Minoru and Tane go to do the first shrine visit as a family. I also did not expect a kiss since this series was announced, because a) it is on TBS, one of Japan's big 3 stations, and is on before midnight b) it stars Atsushiro Inukai and we did not see him kiss in Man V BL or Kei x Yaku and c) the strong family vibe of the show. But I ent mad. In fact, I am the opposite of mad. lol. And speaking of Atsushiro Inukai, let me shout out this man's versatility. How can he play both Yutaka and Shiro, the yakuza and be so convincing in both roles? That's an actor all right.
