Mhor Ririe

That’s Mahiro’s store helper … looks like he also has a love interest.

the whole ambiance in this episode was so healing. I feel relaxed and I love to learn about new foods, new sauces

Language notes. How Souta ends up at “Ariana Grande.” He is probably saying “arimasu”, which could mean “ you have” as in she has met the person. Halfway though saying that she he has met the person (“a-ri”) he decides to make up a story. DUY is Daijoubu (ore Nara) Umaku Yareru. It is the phrase Souta uses to motivate himself. Daijoubu means okay, umaku is casual for well, yareru is casual for can do, so all together it is, “It’s okay, I can do it well,” literally, and they have been translating it as “I got this.” Loved Ryu (the shop helper) yelling Ichijou to check Mahiro’s feelings. Glad we got the whole backstory… the fact that Mahiro used to be Tanaka, not Miki, and that he transferred, thereby not graduating, explains why it takes so long for Souta to remember him. Also, I love that Mahiro has told Ryu his bento story. He has been thinking about Souta all this time! Bit worried about next week. Souta says let’s kiss, but we don’t see who he says it to. So I feel like it might be different from what we expect. Either a flashback, or heaven forbid, that lady coworker. I am guessing by the way Ryu says, “He is no longer in our world,” that he had a boyfriend who died. Maybe that is why he moved to Japan?

The food consultant for the series goes by the name Yamii (Yummy?) and she is an international food consultant at NHK - the Japanese equivalent of the BBC. You can see all the recipes and pictures of granny’s notebook on the website. It is in Japanese, but if you want to see the pics and if Patreon will let me post the link, I will add it here. https://www.ktv.jp/zenrameshi/recipe/
