"Chilling by the beach with Luna. She's in the mood. You're in the mood. No one's around. Why not give each other a hand?

What a great way to spend the day."

VRPorn

It's tough getting VR just right, especially in situations where your brain tells you to do one thing BUT you have to do the more "realistic" thing. Commence rant.

I spent about 6 hours trying to get this position and angle just right. That's outside of time spent actually working on everything else. Let me tell you, the final view was a very hard decision to stick with. Some people may not like it, but I don't care. It was the only way to get the angle just right AND keep it realistic to the original scene. I tried turning the camera sideways over and over again, and realized I'm not doing the realistic thing for Blender.

I'm not saying this from a defensive point of view; I love how it turned out, but it won't be everyon'e cup of tea. Having something so close to your face, with something else at a normal distance, with something else happening at a further distance, then a view of a beautiful backdrop beyond that? Then turn it all sideways a little bit, AND it's all stereoscopic in VR. It's pretty intense when you think about setting everything up for that in VR. And people wonder why I'm a stickler for proper posing and clipping. You may not see it with one eye, but if you see it with the other then immersion is ruined.

There WILL be someone who thinks they're having a hard time looking at her face, and I'm telling you GOOD. Because there's no way to see this in real life and be comfortable without having literal fish eyes or changing position. It's supposed to be slightly uncomfortable because it's just not possible without doing an entirely different pose. This taught me a valuable lesson that I already knew but needed a reminder on: remember what you're trying to do and push the limits, but remember what your realistic limitations are.

Slight rant over, I'm really starting to love the new Blender. Render times are phenomenal, especially using E-Cycles. It really has my hopes up for doing only Blender from here on out.

Enjoy!

Me literally yesterday looking through LazyProcrastinator's videos thinking to myself "I wish this Luna video got a VR version from DD..." Blessed day

If anyone has issues because it's too close then you can always play it in mono as well. I think you may actually get away with it here because she seems to look right into the camera on both sides. But I haven't tested it myself yet.

Mono on this would make it easier to everything if you're not worried about depth realism. And she definitely looks into the camera on both sides. Part of what took so long was making sure there was solid eye contact while hitting all the other markers.
